I found a crocheted hat over at HeadHuggers.org that I thought I’d share with you.  it is a great looking hat and one for warmer weather.  Find it HERE or below. Hat Photo

There Are Holes In My Hat — Brim Cap

(Directions are for adult as well as child sized caps;
Read directions thoroughly before beginning.)

Materials:

  • 4 Ply WW Yarn – 2 Colors
  • Crochet Hook – I

Directions:

Chain 4 or 5 (which ever you usually like to use to make a ring). SL ST in first CH to form a ring.

Round 1 – CH 2, 11 DC in ring. SL ST in top of CH 2. (12 DC)
— CH 2 always counts as 1 DC. (or CH 3, which ever you usually like to use)

Round 2 – CH 2, DC in the same ST. 2 DC in each ST around. SL ST in top of CH 2. (24 DC)

Round 3 – CH 2. * 2 DC in next ST, DC in next ST*; Repeat around. SL ST in top of CH 2. (36 DC)

Round 4 – CH 2, DC in next ST. * 2 DC in next ST, DC in next 2 STS*; Repeat around. SL ST in top of CH 2 (48 DC)

Round 5 – CH 2, DC in next 2 STS. * 2 DC in next ST, DC in next 3 STS*; Repeat around. SL ST in top of CH 2 (60 DC)

  • If making child sized cap, use fewer “2 DC in next ST” in this round or skip this round.
  • If making large adult cap, repeat this round, or just add a few “2 DC” in next round.

Round 6 – CH 2, DC in each ST around. SL ST in top of CH 2.
— Repeat round 6 until cap is the length that you want.

— CRIS’ FLIP BRIM —

Round 1 – CH 2, turn cap so that you are working from the inside of the cap. DC in back loop of next ST, working DC in BL (Back Loop) around. SL ST in top of CH 2.
— (At this point you must have an even number of stitches.)

Round 2 – CH 3, Skip next ST, *DC in next ST, CH 1 & skip next ST*; Repeat around cap. SL ST in CH 2 of starting CH 3.

Round 3 – SL ST into opening, CH 3, skip next ST, *DC into next opening, CH 1 & skip next ST*; Repeat around. SL ST in CH 2 of starting CH 3.

— For wider brim, repeat this round.

Round 4 – CH 1, Work either SC or HDC in each ST around. SL ST in top of CH 1. Finish off.

— J.T.’S ROLLED BRIM —

Round 1 – CH 2, DC in each ST around. SL ST in top of CH 2.

Round 2 – CH 3, skip next ST, *DC in next ST, CH 1 & skip next ST*; Repeat around cap. SL ST in CH 2 of starting CH 3.

ROUND 3 – SL ST into opening, CH 3, skip next ST, *DC into next opening, CH 1 & skip next ST*; Repeat around. SL ST in CH 2 of starting CH 3.
— For wider brim, repeat this round again.

Round 4 – CH 1, work either SC or HDC in each ST around. SL ST in top of CH 1. Finish off.
